Communal Impact Corporation working through Chukwuka Ezewuzie, the special adviser to the governor for disability matters, and the Nigeria Association of the Blind Anambra state chapter will be set to have presented twenty nine (29) white canes in 2020 and thirty (30) white canes in 2021 to the community, culminating with the October 2021 white cane day celebrations.
White Cane Safety Day equally known as “Blind Americans Equality Day” is a national observance in the United States, celebrated on October 15 of each year since 1964. The date has been set aside globally to celebrate the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and the important symbol of blindness and tool of independence, the white cane.
Enlightening the public on the uses of white cane, the effects of measles, vitamin A deficiency, other blindness propagating elements which affect over half a million (500,000) children yearly is indispensable.
We at Communal Impact look forward to working with organizations globally in observance of this special day and unswervingly supporting underprivileged persons (women, children and persons with disability).
